Each December, a group of friends backpacks up into the Superstition Mountains in search of the nearly invisible Coues Deer. This year, both Ron and Justin took home yummy young deer to fill their freezers. I held out for the big boy. I saw him on 3 occasions. One evening, I sat within 125 yards of this magnificent buck for over an hour. I knew he was there, but I couldn't get a shot. Eventually, I ran out of light. That big boy is still out there. In total, I saw 13 individual Bucks and well over 30 different Does. Even without the deer, backpacking the Superstitions is always a wonderful adventure. Quicktime
In May of 2005, my lifelong dream of visiting Alaska was realized. It was a trip that I will never forget. Alaska is a beautiful and wonderous place. Window Media Player
Several years ago, I began hunting with handguns for the added challenge as well as for the convenience of carry. On my previous trip to Wyoming, I harvested several nice Antelope with a 10" TC Contender. While this was more challenging that hunting with a rifle, I consider revolvers much more challenging. I began wondering if it was possible to spot and stalk Antelope in open country using a revolver. Windows Media Player
This video contains some fun clips of rutting Coues Whitetails. I have no idea why the rut was going on in late February, but it was. Notice how steep of country these deer live in. At one point, the Whitetails were standing on a near vertical slope. Even the sure footed Whitetails were falling down. Windows Media Player
